Smart City Testbed
The WSU Smart City Testbed enables cross-cutting research across multiple power system domains including, wide-area transmission networks, distribution automation, renewable energy, microgrids, and smart meters. The testbed enables state-of-the-art research in power systems control and communication. It provides an educational environment for students and enable increased collaboration with industry.
Key technologies incorporated into the testbed include an energy management system (EMS) and distribution management system (DMS), digital relays, distribution automation equipment, smart meters, and a 72kW solar array. The testbed is integrated with the WSU campus and can obtain multiple real-time measurements from various sources.
